by Dante Bortolotti
take you anywhere, everywhere
i watch you from the top of the balcony
meet me there, somewhere in the middle of knowing
somewhere in my field of vision, running through it
lose sight and lose self, a million converged into one
then fragmented into individual colors again
take me anywhere, everywhere
if only i knew you
woodshed floor and silence screaming
colorblind agony and asphyxiating
which ones are the real ones? tell me what i want to hear
tell me you’ll be here, the softer you
i wish i could find a way to erase it
as if maybe she had never been there at all
go back somewhere in the vast network of time
find the exact moment of intersection and untie the knot
forget my name, forget my face
square one, square two, square one, square two
two eyes, none at all
i’ll return to where i once came, all dust, or all nothing
every day i remind myself more of you
i think some days that i might have your eyes
your voice, or your malice
that thought tortures me more than you do
return to me, anywhere, everywhere
my question with no answer
my lover long gone and never existent
return to me, anywhere, everywhere
or stay far from me
sever my field of vision from the world you exist in
leave me another time
and may both of us pray that you forget me
