WINNERS OF THE FALL 2025 CONTEST
Izabella Carter & Christian Rhodes
Izabella’s Poem: Untitled.
A cozy yellow, light from my lamp
Shadows cut from sharp angles
Stalk closer, yet still when I watch
Christian’s Story: “Rabbit”
A rabbit with useless legs, the perfect prey for my bullets to eat. My wife hates me hunting, but she’ll be happy I put a poor creature out of its paralyzed misery.
I’m confused why she’s not waiting outside, frowning, because I left the door cracked, but when I slam through the wooden jaw of our house, I see her wheelchair waiting in the kitchen, empty.
The above winning writings were in response to the Fall 2025 prompt: In consideration of the Autumn season, write a three sentence scary story or a three line scary poem.
Winners have their work shared on this website. For instructions on how to submit, please see our submissions page.
